CONOR GROGAN

Conor worked in the lab doing PCRs, and did some important python programming.

CAMDEN FREILINGER

Camden was an undergraduate biology student at OSU who specialized in physiology and behavior, from which their passion for biology stems. They love the form and function of animal physiology and how structures have been modified through eons of evolution. They believe arthropods provide a great example of this, as their many appendages and external structures are very malleable allowing them to fit within niches, resulting in great diversity. They worked in the lab programming, as well as sorting and examining beetle species.

CASSANDRA TILLOTSON

As an undergraduate biology student, Cassandra toured the extensive world of this natural science. She found herself exploring the boundless branches of Bembidion-based beetle biology. Hoping to extend her knowledge of this bountiful field of science, she learned the usage and application of genetic tools in the lab. Apart from her time spent participating in these tasks, Cassandra enjoys baking, biking, and beginning (though never quite finishing) new projects.

RHEA SELLITTO

Rhea has been exploring both the physical and life sciences through academics and research since moving to Oregon. Hailing from Hawai'i, they've become entranced by the unfamiliar ecosystems of the pacific northwest. Seeking more unfamiliar experiences, they were exploring beetle genetics in the lab. Their long-term goal was to do research in PNW forest ecology. To get there, they got their undergraduate degree in biology with an option in ecology. Outside of science, they enjoy playing Minecraft, keeping houseplants, and dancing!

Kendra del Toro

Kendra is interested in insect ecology and natural history. Their work in the lab focused on preparing beetle specimens, and sorting them, as well as a taxonomic project on the genus Brachypelus. They majored in Zoology, with a focus on entomology. You can follow Kendra on Instagram (@beesbeetlesbugs) to see the bug-related things they’re up to.

Lili S. Adams

Lili did many PCRs in the lab, and processed a lot of chromatograms. Lili studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She also did a very cool honors thesis about data sonification by composing audio and music to represent DNA data about various Lionepha species.

Caitlin E. Hudecek

Caitlin did lots of PCRs and amongst other lab tasks wrote Python scripts to process genomic data. She pursued a BS in Chemical Engineering and Biology, a focus in Marine Biology and a minor in Toxicology.
